chart-ganttUse relative dates in agreements

Simplify management of your deadlines: link your dates together and Formality takes care of the calculations.

What are relative dates used for?

The relative dates allow you to automatically calculate a date from another one. Examples:

  • "30 days after the effective date"

  • "2 months before the end date"

No need to manually recalculate your due dates or update each field: Formality does it for you.

The benefits

  • Save time: no more manual calculations

  • Avoid mistakes: dates update automatically

  • Stay up to date: your reminders, workflows and statuses always follow the correct dates

How to set a relative date

  1. Open the Agreement and select the date field (e.g. expiration, renewal).

  2. Choose the mode Relative.

  3. Select the reference date (e.g. the effective date).

  4. Enter an offset :

    • Positive → "+30 days" = 30 days after

    • Negative → "–15 days" = 15 days before

  5. Formality automatically displays the calculated date.

Good to know

  • You can combine absolute and relative dates within the same Agreement.

  • If the reference date changes, all linked dates are automatically updated.

  • If a date cannot be calculated, it simply displays as Empty.

  • The contract status (Asset, expired, etc.) is always based on the calculated dates.

In summary

Relative dates allow you to keep your contracts consistent and up to date effortlessly. You set a rule once, Formality manages all due dates for you, even when the schedule changes.
