Introduction

The Properties are the foundation of agreement customization in Formality. They allow you to structure your agreements in a clear, consistent, and actionable way — both for your teams and for the AI.

Thanks to Properties, your agreements are no longer just stored documents, but structured data that feed the summary cards, alerts, workflows, and the Assistant.

Before proceeding, make sure that:

• you have Admin rights on your workspace

• you have access to the Agreement Studio

What are Properties?

The Properties group all the elements that define how an agreement is structured in Formality.

They determine:

• which information is tracked in each agreement;

• where that information appears in the summary card;

• how the AI analyzes the documents.

👉 Properties are used to adapt Formality to your business needs, without unnecessary complexity.

What you can configure with Properties

Properties are built on three complementary blocks:

1. Agreement categories

The agreement categories define the nature of agreements (lease, DPA, warranty, etc.) and are organized in a hierarchical tree.

They allow fine classification of agreements, notably in multi-country or multi-use contexts, and define the context used by the AI.

2. Sections and fields

The sections visually structure the summary card by topic.

The fields define the data tracked in each section (dates, amounts, durations, options…).

Together, they determine what is displayed in the summary cards and in which order.

3. AI utilization

Properties also serve as the basis for automatic agreement analysis.

The AI relies on:

• the categories to understand the type of agreement;

• the fields to know what to extract and how to interpret it.

A good configuration of Properties directly improves the quality of extracted data and the Assistant’s responses.
